The Diamond Empowerment Fund has donated $75,000 to the Botswana Top Achiever Program, which allows select students to attend a university of their choice.

The donation is a result of funds raised at DEF and the Embassy of the Republic of Botswana’s “Salute to Botswana, Diamond Empower Africa” event held in Washington, D.C., in July.

DEF members, in collaboration with representatives from Tiffany & Co., presented the check to members of the Botswana delegation on Oct. 1.

“Botswana is a shining example of the positive impact diamonds have on communities when good governance is coupled with wise management of natural resources,” Phyllis Berman, DEF board president, said in a statement.
