Diamdel Calls Latest Auction Unprecedented

Diamdel’s first auctions for 2011, held during February, saw
“unprecedented levels of participation,” the De Beers subsidiary said.

Some 166 different businesses participated, and all lots
were sold.

“Tight supply conditions and an unprecedented level of
customer demand combined to deliver exceptionally competitive auctions, and
most indicators point to near term demand conditions remaining very robust,”
said Neil Ventura, CEO of Diamdel, in a statement.

By value 62 percent of lots were sold to non-sightholders,
with sightholders winning 38 percent. No buyer won more than 15 lots of the 197
lots offered for sale.
