Designer Spotlight: Boaz Kashi

When I think of Boaz Kashi, I immediately think of the designer and his huge smile. Don’t get me wrong, the jewelry is beautiful, but it’s the energy he brings to his work that really excites me and makes me intrigued with his work. I’m a big believer that fine jewelry is just a physical manifestation of something much larger, and I quickly realized Boaz shares my sentiments. He is a fifthgeneration jeweler who is building a map to his heart through his designs. I can’t wait to meet him and his new collection in Tucson.

Why did you decide to become a jewelry designer?

I grew up in a family of jewelers, including my grandfather, my parents, my uncles, my sister, and my cousins. Since I was a child, I was fascinated with creating jewelry, the properties of different metals and precious stones, and the way people choose and buy jewelry. Becoming a jeweler was as natural as it was exciting and I immediately felt, and still do today, that this is my destiny.

What are three things that are essential to you as an artist and to your brand?

Empowerment of You: My creations are meant to empower the people who wear them, to inspire them to fulfill themselves and to project their personalities in the best way possible.

Reflections of Me: My creations are meant to reflect the best of my inspirations and my personality.

Quality of Product: My creations are meant to bring out the best out of the materials that I use and to create jewelry of the highest quality possible.

How do you want your audience to interact with your art? How do you want them to feel?

Wearing a Boaz Kashi jewel should make you feel empowered, beautiful, bold, proud, trend-setting, exciting, and individualistic, while feeling happy and comfortable to be yourself.

What has been the most exciting part of your career thus far?

Opening my shop in Neve Tzedek is probably the most exciting milestone in my career, but I honestly and truly keep getting excited whenever I meet people who proudly wear my jewelry and I feel that I helped them to fulfill themselves.

How do you want to be remembered?

With a smile.

Can you give us a sneak peek about into new projects in work? Anything new you’ll be bringing to the show?

My latest collection is called Nur that reflects nature with a special emphasis on trees. I was inspired to create this work while looking for a lighter to light a cigarette. I couldn’t find a lighter, but found a box of Nur matches (an Israeli brand of matches). I lit the match and was fascinated by how the fire changed the very being of the match second by second. On the same day, I created my first Nur ring. Since then, I am entranced with this collection (and I have stopped smoking).

Any advice for emerging designers?

Believe in yourself, in your vision, in your energy, and in your creations.

Why are you excited for JCK Tucson?

I am very excited about participating in JCK. I have participated numerous times in the past and I found the event to be inspiring, fun, and profitable. I met some very interesting and creative people.
