I always think of turquoise as a summer stone, given its propensity for being worn at the beach, or alongside deep blue waters (or maybe that’s just the bohemian fashion spreads I so often eyeball?). But as it is one of December’s three birthstones, I suppose I can see how it’s perfectly apt for the winter season, too.

Come to think of it, it makes a pretty great year-round stone, with its shades of sea green to robin’s egg blue coupling splendidly with every other hue under the sun (and moon). Currently, I’m enjoying it in tiny iterations: Little stud earrings popping just a speck of blue on the earlobe, and as a colorful addition to a petite, stackable ring.

But of course, the stone looks fabulous in any form (see my colleague Amy’s glam turquoise feature for proof), so I’ve found plenty of variations to suit a variety of tastes.
