The World Gold Council (WGC) has appointed former De Beers executive Sachin Jain its new CEO for India, beginning in March.
Jain worked for De Beers for 13 years. As managing director of De Beers India, he led its Forevermark business in India and the Middle East. Prior to joining De Beers, Jain held senior positions at Lladro, Swatch Group, and Benetton.
At the WGC, he will take over from Somasundaram PR, who has headed its India division since 2013 and will stay on as an adviser.
David Tait, global CEO of the World Gold Council, said in a statement that Jain’s “marketing expertise will help deepen our engagement not only with the gold industry but also with financial institutions and raise awareness of gold’s role in every investment portfolio.”
