De Beers Millennium Blue Sells For $6.4 Million



On April 7th in Hong Kong, the 5.16 ct fancy vivid blue internally flawless diamond from the De Beers Millennium Collection sold for $6.4 million- higher than even the top range of the auction house’s estimate of $5.9 million. It was the first time that one of the De Beers Millennium Diamonds has been put on sale since the original placement with private collectors in 2000.

At $1.25 million per ct., the De Beers Millennium Blue exceeds the price per ct. of the Wittelsbach Diamond ($680,000 per ct.) and nearly approached the record setting price of $1.35 million per ct. for a 7.03 ct. blue diamond and the 5 ct. fancy intense pink diamond sold in Hong Kong last year for $2.1 million per ct.
