Element Six, De Beers’ synthetic diamond manufacturing subsidiary, has appointed De Beers Group CEO Philippe Mellier as its chairman.
He replaces Jonathan Oppenheimer, who is leaving the company after his family’s 40 percent share was bought out by Anglo American.
The appointment reflects the position of Element Six as a core business within the De Beers Group, a statement said.
“Element Six is a global leader in its sector and a fascinating business, with exciting potential for growth,” said Mellier in a statement. “I look forward to working with the strong management team already in place to service our clients, open new markets, and develop innovative uses for synthetic diamond supermaterials.”
