Waterville, Maine–based Day’s Jewelers has promoted Julie Collins (pictured) to the position of vice president of merchandising.
Collins was previously the eight-store chain’s gemstone and watch buyer.
In her new role, she will head a 10-person merchandising team, oversee the retailer’s $15 million inventory, and maintain relationships with its more than 200 gemstone and fine jewelry suppliers.
Collins has worked for the company since 2002, starting as an office manager in the company’s Auburn, Maine, location.
“Twenty years ago, I started working at Day’s knowing absolutely nothing about the jewelry business,” Collins said in a statement. “This is an amazing industry with so many people willing to share their knowledge and experience.”
She replaces Kathy Corey, who bought Day’s Jewelers alongside her husband, Jeff, in 1988.
Kathy Corey will no longer be employed by Day’s but will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors.
Last year, the company transitioned to employee ownership.
