Goodbye, Nielsen. Hello, Emerald.
Private-equity fund Onex Corp. has completed its acquisition of Nielsen Expositions—owner of Couture, National Jeweler, and the JA Show, as well as number of other non-jewelry properties. As part of the deal, the new company will be named Emerald Expositions.
The purchase totaled $950 million in cash. Onex Partners III made an equity investment of approximately $350 million. The division was first reported to be up for sale by longtime owner Nielsen in April.
Properties owned by Emerald include Couture, the JA New York Winter & Summer shows, the JA Special Delivery Shows, and NationalJeweler.com.
