Jan Mohr, longtime retailer liaison for the Couture show, died on Dec. 25 of a brain tumor. She was 71.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, Mohr began her industry career behind the counter of a local retailer. She went on to become the fine jewelry buyer for Henry Birks USA and then regional sales manager for Tiffany & Co.’s trade division.
Mohr joined Couture in 2000 and served as its retailer liaison until her retirement in June 2025.
A show statement said that Mohr “exuded grace, elegance, and sophistication, characteristics that were rivaled only by her kindness. The care and consideration she showcased to everyone around her were remarkable; she remembered milestones and accomplishments of others and unabashedly celebrated even their smallest successes. She was everybody’s biggest cheerleader, and the best friend anyone could hope to have.”
Gannon Brousseau, executive vice president of Couture owner Emerald Expositions, said in the same statement that Mohr was “our rock, our unsung hero, our north star, and the most inspiring person I’ve ever met…. Jan’s impact on our industry, on our community, and on me personally is indelible. We join her family and the entire industry in mourning this tremendous loss.”
Brousseau added that Couture’s Hidden Gem Award, which was given to Mohr in 2025, will be renamed the Jan Mohr Award for Excellence.
Mohr is survived by her husband of 46 years, Larry; her daughter, Madelyn; a brother; and three sisters. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Glioblastoma Research Organization.
