Winter, spring, summer, fall. No matter what your favorite time of year, Mikimoto‘s new Four Seasons collection—featuring nine one-of-a-kind, limited edition pieces—is bound to enchant. The collection, which further enhances Mikimoto’s 120th anniversary celebration, represents each period of time so accurately, evoking the feelings of renewal, joy, and excitement that come with the changing of seasons.
The icy chill, sparkle of the snow, and spirit of adventure is alive and well in Mikimoto’s Winter, in which a pair of button-like statement earrings and cool-hued ring surrounds baroque white South Sea cultured pearls with blue sapphires, Paraiba tourmalines, and diamonds. Visions of glaciers, snow-capped mountain peaks, and icicles all helped inspire the wintry designs.
Spring, the season of rebirth. The ice and snow start to slowly melt away, leaving fresh blooms and welcome warmer temperatures that warrant our awakening from hibernation. The pastel hues of the season are represented in this coordinating collection of necklace, earrings, and ring, featuring white South Sea cultured pearls, tsavorite garnets, purple sapphires, Paraiba tourmalines, amethysts, and diamonds. The mosaic setting—particularly on the necklace—reminds me of the mesmerizing artistic creations of Gaudi, and I’m instantly transported to the sights, sounds, and smells of Barcelona. Others may see it differently: a garden brimming with color, flowers on a budding tree. However you see it, there’s no denying that this suite is definitely spring, bejeweled.
In hot, hot summer, we take refuge from its sweltering temperatures at the beach, near the ocean, in a swimming pool. Some enjoy bathing in the sun’s rays, not at all deterred by its heat. But there’s no denying the breezy, romantic aspects of the year’s hottest season, and the drop earrings and ring from the Summer line convey both of those personalities. On one side of the ring, and on one of the earrings, the blazing sun is represented through a mosaic of pink, orange, and yellow sapphires. On the other side (and on the opposing earring), a satisfying serving of cool is present thanks to the addition of blue sapphires. It really represents how many of us feel about summer. Sometimes the heat can be overwhelming, but add a little touch of cool and you have before your eyes the beauty and magic of sweet, sweet summer.
Saving the best for last, am I? If you love fall as much as I do, then yes. The golden hues of the season are beautifully represented where yellow and orange sapphires, spessartite garnets, and diamonds mingle around a golden South Sea pearl in Autumn‘s warmly hued necklace and stunner of a ring. The fiery look of fall leaves in upstate New York or Vermont (hey, it’s what I know), a cornucopia of the season’s harvest, and somehow, the warm, fuzzy, nostalgic feelings only fall can bring, are all represented by the glittering settings of these pieces.
So yes, I have a favorite season, but in this collection? It’s a four-way tie. The pieces are beautifully designed and each evokes the feelings of the seasons so clearly, and seem to blend seamlessly into the next, just like the transitions we experience every four months or so. A true testament to the design capabilities and everlasting beauty that Mikimoto presents.
This collection is only available in select Mikimoto boutiques starting in November.
