Spanish jeweler Magerit has been mesmerizing the industry with surreal creations for 20 years now, and its newest ranks as an easy favorite. Dubbed Instinto, the collection is said to celebrate the relationship that exists between the human and natural worlds, paying close attention to the passions and instincts of both. The stars of the show: a feminine figure with a sensuous shape and a bold, elegant panther.
In a number of the designs, the relationship between the duo is shown, varying in looks that range from dominance to respect to fear. In one ring, the woman holds the panther on a leash, while in another, they appear to be comfortable with one another, the wildcat taking a protective stance. The woman even wraps herself around the animal in a number of other pieces. The detail is pretty remarkable, where black rhodium enhances the dramatic features and diamonds enhance the finished look—it’s amazing how such emotions can emanate from these works of art, showing an understanding and deep love between the two worlds. In some, large gemstones anchor the designs, acting as a barrier between the two characters to curl around.
Some of the designs are dedicated to the natural side, with animalistic looks that either showcase the elegant full figure of the panther or take a fiercer stance with its sharp claws, and—my favorite—the eye. The collection’s well-roundedness is evident in its range from extravagance to simplicity, some with gemstones and some without, but all boasting that aforementioned detail that Magerit so expertly imparts.
