Being an immediate fan of almost anything that conveys even a slightly rebellious look, it was obsession at first glance with the new collection from Jack Vartanian. Edgy is the highly appropriate moniker of the line, which is rife with spiked geometric aesthetics in gold and blackened finishes.
The urban-influenced, 18k line takes on several of-the-moment trends, including ear climbers, front-and-back earrings, and bracelet/ring combination pieces that adorn the hand. The looks rely mostly on spiked triangular edges, but a number of pieces are dotted with small diamonds, a feminine touch to otherwise sleek, fashion-forward shapes.
The collection is described as being designed for “sophisticated women with attitude,” which I think perfectly sums it up; the pieces aren’t too out-there for professional wear, they simply add a daring angle to work or weekend wear, even if the rest of the ensemble is considered tame. The feeling of big-city rock and roll is as simple as slipping on any of the jewels from this collection. I find myself partial to the hand bracelet and ear climbers.
