Christie’s Hong Kong to Auction Important Pigeon’s-Blood Ruby



Its estimate: $10 million—$15 million

Christie’s Hong Kong will offer the Crimson Flame, a 15 ct. pigeon’s-blood Burmese ruby at its Magnificent Jewels auction on Dec. 1.

It is estimated at $10 million–$15 million.

“Ruby appears to be a real star at Christie’s Hong Kong jewelry auctions this year,” said Vickie Sek, deputy chairman and director of Christie’s Asia jewellery department. “Following the record-breaking results achieved last spring by a fabulous Burmese ruby and diamond necklace by Etcetera, we will present the sensational Crimson Flame, undoubtedly the most important pigeon’s-blood ruby to come to auction in Asia. Collectors will also be mesmerized by the exceptional selection of exquisite gems and jade.”

The Etcetera ruby and diamond necklace garnered nearly $118 million in June.

—Mogok’s Fiery Red suite by Fai Dee, a Burmese pigeon’s-blood ruby and diamond necklace, estimated at $6 million—$8 million

—A pair of pigeon’s-blood ruby and diamond earrings, estimated at $2.9 million—$4.1 million

—A 7.53 carat fancy intense pink diamond and diamond ring, estimated at $5.8 million—$8.3 million

—The Afghan Emerald, an extremely rare 10.11 ct. no-oil emerald ring of flawless clarity, estimated at $1 million—$1.5 million

—An exquisite jadeite necklace with a diamond clasp by Cartier, estimated at $3.5 million—$4.8 million
