Charges Dropped Against Four In Alleged Michigan Theft Ring

On June 9, a federal judge dismissed charges against four Michigan
residents who were allegedly involved in a nationwide grab-and-run
jewelry theft ring
.

In May, 19 Michigan residents—including Anthony Donnell
Hill, Yvette Marie Curry, Anthony Crawford, and Ronald Parker—were charged
with conspiracy and interstate transportation of stolen property in connection
to a jewelry theft ring.

According to court records, a judge ruled to dismiss without
prejudice the complaint against Hill, Curry, Crawford, and Parker, citing the
government needs additional time to develop and obtain evidence sufficient to
establish guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The judge ruled the government needs to investigate the full
extent of the offenses in question and identify all other individuals who
should be held criminally responsible for the offenses.

The original complaint says the metro Detroit-based
operation hit more than 45 stores in 22 states on separate occasions from May
2006 through April 2011, and routed the stolen items back to Michigan.
