Brent Polacheck’s phone rang nonstop Monday, Dec. 27, in his Calabasas, Calif.,
store, but the calls weren’t about holiday gifts. The owner of Polacheck’s
Jewelers—with locations in Calabasas and Sherman Oaks—was inundated with queries
from the media because of a mention received that day on People.com; in a post entitled “LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian Are Engaged,”
Polacheck is named as the maker of the celebrity couple’s diamond engagement
ring.

“Eddie and I have been friends since we were 10 years old,” Polacheck told JCK in a phone interview Monday evening.

The platinum and 18k rose gold ring—“in production for a few months,” according to the
jeweler—has an oval-shaped diamond center
stone (Polacheck is restricted from dishing on carat weight) and fleur-di-lis
motifs. That, he reveals, is country singer/actress Rimes’ taste. “LeAnn is very
into estate, so she wanted some adaption of that,” says Polacheck.

Other shapes of center stones like cushions and pears were
discussed, but CSI: Miami star Cibrian and Polacheck opted for an oval to fit the contemporary
ring with antique-inspired accents. “Eddie and I sat down and came up with what
we think is a masterpiece,” adds Polacheck.

And while many would-be grooms appreciate proposal tips, the jeweler was confident that Cibrian didn’t need any.

“You can see the love in each one of their eyes, which is
important when taking that step,” Polacheck says of his childhood pal and the bride-to-be.
