Kristin Cavallari Opens Store for Jewelry Line Uncommon James

We wrote about Kristen Cavallari debuting her Uncommon James jewelry collection back in April 2017. Now the former cast member of reality TV series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County is diving headfirst into brick-and-mortar retailing.

WWD reports that the brand opened its first-ever store—a 3,500-square-foot combined retail and office space—in Nashville this week. Cavallari currently lives in Nashville, with her football player husband, Jay Cutler. The couple moved to the city around a year ago.

The new shop, which will fulfill e-commerce orders, stocks the 14k gold-plated jewelry line, defined by stylish daily gold pieces. And its opening also marks the launch of Uncommon James’ new homewares collection—which so far consists of trendy kitchen items like copper Moscow mule mugs and measuring spoons.

Coming soon to the store: Cavallari is collaborating with Australia-based baby line Sapling Child on a Little James collection of baby clothes and accessories. Little James will be sold exclusively in the Nashville store, according to WWD, before launching online in spring 2019.

“Opening a store is an idea that I had been floating around for a few years, but we were never in one place long enough because we used to split our time between Chicago and Nashville,” Cavallari told WWD. “It’s been a really great, fun challenge for me.”

She sees Nashville’s unique urban profile as a good fit for the store, explaining, “It’s a weird time for brick-and-mortar…. I do think Nashville, the city, is working in my favor because it’s such a destination for girls’ trips or bridal parties and things of that nature. I don’t see myself opening a store in every big city.”

She told WWD she could envision opening three or four more stores in the future, with Los Angeles, South Florida, and Texas as possible locations.
