Brazilian jewelry designer Carla Amorim’s newest collection directly addresses all of the romantic reasons why women wear jewelry: intimate moments like kisses shared under a canopy at garden party, playful and unexpected scenarios like getting caught in the rain with a lover, or receiving a bouquet of flowers from a beau. Amorim’s Romance collection is a storyboard of these occasions and others brought to life in 18k gold and gemstones in the über-feminine and curvaceous aesthetic that her fans have come to expect.
Twenty-eight SKUs debuted in Romance this August, where the 18k gold pieces were on display in Amorim’s shop on Rua Oscar Freire in São Paulo as of a few weeks ago. Kelly Amorim, the designer’s sister, walked me through the robust and colorful styles subtly rendered in motifs that spoke to floral bunches, raindrops, and a pair’s passionate embrace, among others.
“The Singing in the Rain pieces mix a delicate balance of rose gold drops falling or rose gold drops with white or angel skin coral,” she explains. “The Bouquet earrings and ring represent the most important floral arrangement—a wedding bouquet—in a woman’s life. And turquoise, rubies, and emeralds show their best sides in Racing Hearts earring jackets and rings.”
Romance is about to debut to the international market at the upcoming Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, Sept. 16–22. Retail prices start at $1,700, and retailer buy-in is $15,000.
