Halstead, a 40-year-old distributor of jewelry supplies in Prescott, Ariz., has announced a call for entries to its 2013 Halstead Grant Competition for up-and-coming American silver designers.
Now in its eighth year, the contest is for independent jewelry artists who work in silver and have introduced lines within the past three years. Pieces considered for submission can be made with jewelry technique (e.g., casting, precious metal clay, or beading) and the primary components in finished work must be silver. The winner receives a prize package including $5,000 cash for business start-up and $1,000 in jewelry supplies.
Submit applications, a design portfolio, and a résumé between April 15 and June 9.
