Bulgari’s Holiday Magic at Fifth Avenue and 57th Street

Bulgari is changing up its holiday facade in Manhattan this year with the unveiling of a massive Diva necklace (typically it’s a Bulgari snake motif) wrapping around the exterior of its building at Fifth Avenue and 57th Street.

This necklace is a whopping 68 feet long and created in the likeness of Bulgari’s iconic Diva collection, which is inspired by ancient Roman mosaics. The decoration features upwards of 91,400 LED handmade lights (“in the spirit of the brand’s heritage,” Bulgari tells the media), has a focal-point pendant measuring 13 feet tall, took four engineers 25 days to design and eight technicians another five to install, and in total, weighs 1,014 pounds. Fittingly, the name of the installation is Holiday Magic. Additionally, a companion window display will showcase other stars in Bulgari’s constellations: a snake for Serpenti, a peacock representing Diva, and a lion rendered in the spirit of B.zero1.

One more fun fact: Bulgari partnered with Google to debut a virtual journey to the hidden jewels of Rome dubbed Roman Treasures: The Night of Every Desire. Log on to Romantreasures.bulgari.com to visit a series of Roman landmarks—think Spanish Steps and the Colosseum, among others—that inspire the jeweler’s collections. Guests can create e wish cards as souvenirs.

If you’re in the city, check out the displays through Jan. 1.
