How’s this for an artsy marketing move: Buddha Mama is collaborating with artist Ashley Longshore on a Dallas pop-up activation this week—an example of how fine art and fine jewelry make the perfect pair.
Longshore invited Buddha Mama founder Nancy Badia and her daughter and business partner Dakota to showcase their brand’s one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces for three days (April 9–11) of Longshore’s monthlong pop-up at the Platform at Katy Trail, an event space in the Dallas neighborhood of Turtle Creek. It’s the first such collab for Buddha Mama, and a long way from the Badias’ home in Miami—but that’s part of the fun, they say.
The pop-up also represents an expanding trend among jewelry and watch brands to share their products with shoppers interested in art. It likely started with jewelry stores designed to look like art galleries, but has included partnerships between brands and artists, such as Swiss watchmaker Bucherer’s recent hosting of an exhibition by contemporary artist Flore at its New York City flagship.

Being featured alongside the artwork of a phenom like Longshore elevates Buddha Mama’s jewelry to the level of collectibles, says Nancy Badia. Her brand is known for its 20k gold pieces, hand-painted enamel work, and exquisite choice of gemstones.
Longshore in a statement said she hopes her residency at the Platform allows her to introduce like-minded creatives to her loyal audience in the Dallas area. The Badias share a love of pop art with Longshore and expect their joint pop-up to entertain as well as market both parties. Its venue, the Platform at Katy Trail, resembles an art gallery, with limewashed walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, and natural light.
“This is a good idea for Buddha Mama, and that’s why the choice to accept Ashley’s invitation was easy,” Nancy says. “It is more than just the mix of jewelry and art—it’s this jewelry and this art that seems like a match made in heaven.”

Nancy Badia says she and Longshore have followed each other’s work for years—in fact, they owned each other’s pieces before ever meeting. Then, in spring 2025, they finally got to know one another, during a Buddha Mama luncheon in New York City.
“We became fast friends,” Nancy says. “Dakota is looking forward to finally meeting Ashley in Dallas. We are going to have so much fun.”
Would Nancy do a pop-up activation again instead of a traditional trunk show? She says she’s always up for a good time. And she gets to spend time with her friend in a beautiful setting.
“Dakota and I love the bold and unapologetic nature of Longshore’s work. Ashley leaves it all on the canvas, be it a political statement, a study of butterflies, an homage to a powerful woman. She gives it everything she has,” Nancy says. “That is what draws us to her work. And while we won’t speak for Ashley, I guess that it’s the similar perspective that we bring that draws her to our collections.”
