Seeing model and television personality Heidi Klum host the finale of Project Runway on April 25, one couldn’t help but notice the pair of Lorraine Schwartz brooches accenting her colorful Jean Paul Gaultier print jumper and dark blazer. While brooches haven’t been the primary focus of any recent fashion editorials, they continue to appear as eye-catching accents to a variety of designer looks and remain a chic option for the savvy jewelry lover.

USA Today pictures Klum with designer mentor Tim Gunn; the Project Runway Season 11 winner, Michelle Lesniak Franklin; and a model wearing one of Franklin’s winning designs.
Another creative use of brooches, a matched set from Fred Leighton worn together at one side of a jewel neckline, appears in the March 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar. The ring is also from Fred Leighton. The dress is by Dior.
