You might recall Tejen’s Rock Sugar collection, a sweet line of jewels—inspired by crystallized sugar candy—that we covered last October. The pieces gleamed in gold and were decorated with a sprinkling of diamonds, many also glowing with the mystical multicolors of Australian white opals.
A newer piece from Tejen builds on the delectable Rock Sugar collection: an opalicious pendant perched from a collar necklace, offering one of the best sort of looks the market has going these days. The necklace is crafted using Fairmined gold, as Tejen—which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year—recently became an official Fairmined ambassador.
I love how a medallion-style pendant looks on a shapely collar, sleek and shiny and sitting at the perfect spot along the décolletage. But it’s the opal nestled within this “candy bowl” of a circle that steals the show, designed to echo its glorious flashes of color within the ravine of high-polish gold in which it’s nestled. And for the finishing touch, a sugary knot of diamonds sits on the bail.
“As Tejen approaches its 10th anniversary, we are profoundly honored to be named a Fairmined ambassador, a distinction that reflects our commitment to the use of Fairmined gold in fine jewelry,” said Tejen creative director Mark Kroeker in a statement. “This ambassadorship reinforces our dedication to responsible sourcing, the preservation, safety, and fair treatment of small artisanal mining communities through our support of the Alliance of Responsible Mining, the Fairmined organization, and the belief that true luxury is defined not only by refinement but by integrity and purpose.”
Kroeker told JCK last year that we can expect wonderful things in store from the brand. This sculptural piece marks Tejen’s venture into heavier volumes of gold, blending its signature objet d’art style with wearable, endlessly treasured jewels.
