Britt’s Pick: Moonstone Necklace By Studio Tara

Share

Most often when I dream of my perfect moonstone piece, it has a few key elements. The gemstone itself is often of the rainbow or blue variety, the kind that looks as if it actually contains drops of the moon inside.

The piece is also typically petite. Perhaps it has minimal metalwork, which lets the gemstone really shine, or maybe it has a smattering of styles that look just right for wearing every day.

Today’s Britt’s Pick fits that description in exactly zero ways—but that doesn’t stop it from being perfect.

As we slowly but surely leave our quarantine nests, many may want to wear things that help them express their desire to stand out, be seen, and celebrate. A good statement piece will always do the trick when it comes to celebrating and being seen, and this necklace from Indian jeweler Studio Tara is just such a piece.

The necklace serves as an exhibit on the wonders of moonstone. Big, (mostly) opaque stones are gathered here, placed between golden leaves that twirl around each gem in a spirit that feels riotously celebratory. It’s as if swirling bits of ribbon have come to nest here, wrapping a protective layer around each egg-shape gem.

This is not your throw-it-on, everyday piece, mind you (though, if that happened to be one’s style, one could make it work). But it is one that warrants a good amount of wear, and the entire month of June—particularly if it were one’s birthstone—is just the right time to do so.

The stones’ shades of peach, green, and gray are also reminiscent of fall—paired with the golden foliage, we’re really thinking autumnal—so this necklace would make an epic addition to cooler seasons’ wardrobes.
