The holidays inspire a certain amount of glitz and glamour that no other time of year manages to draw from us. The season’s robust opportunities for social gatherings ignite a strong inclination to dress to the nines, most often in all things shiny and shimmery (satin, sequins, velvet).
A holiday gala is any noncelebrity’s chance at a red carpet moment, an invitation to sparkle brighter than the lights on every tree and garland within reach.
Nothing dazzles like jewelry, and Paul Morelli has the most amazing necklace to accompany any holiday happening. From the brand’s recently debuted Dahlia collection, this festively floral piece pairs pink sapphire with tsavorite in an ornate arrangement of gemstone clusters, crafted to represent the flower the necklace is named after. As closely associated with spring as floral motifs may be, there’s a distinctly winter holiday vibe here (or perhaps we’re peering through Christmas-colored glasses?), with starry, poinsettia-like points, twinkling diamonds, and glistening gold.
“The vibrant colors and bold composition of the dahlia flower was my inspiration for the Dahlia collection,” Paul Morelli, creative director of his eponymous brand, says. “While the necklace is at a much smaller scale, the intricacies remain just as tight and segmented, with saturated colors representing the collection’s namesake.”
We don’t have to tell you how versatile a piece like this is: It has a strong color combination, two of-the-moment hues that together appear elegant and soft but also youthful and jubilant. The dahlia flower is considered a symbol of beauty and kindness, especially in its pink, which symbolizes grace. This necklace is nothing if not graceful, its beauty obvious and alluring.
We’ll surely still be singing its praises in the spring, as we long for the first sighting of blooms after the coldest season. But now, as we prepare for the holidays, it really does feel like it was made for winter’s finest moments.
