Zoisite is not a gem you hear about every day.
Most jewelry customers would recognize it by the name tanzanite, the most famous variety in the zoisite family, prized for its gorgeous blue-violet hue. The zoisite featured in this three-stone ring by Omi Privé doesn’t quite fit that description.
“Most tanzanite on the market is heat-treated to remove the stone’s naturally occurring warm brownish tones, enhancing the saturated blues and purples that have become synonymous with the gem. This particular stone, however, has not undergone heating, leaving zoisite in its rare, natural color state,” explains Niveet Nagpal, owner and designer of Omi Privé.
“Zoisite is trichroic, meaning it displays three different colors, depending on the angle and quality of light,” he says. “In this example, the stone can reveal blue, violet, and warmer bronze or burgundy undertones, giving the gem a uniquely dimensional appearance that shifts with movement, orientation, and lighting.
“Because most stones are heated, this trichroic nature is often subdued or partially lost, making unheated examples like this especially compelling to collectors and gem enthusiasts.”

Given the stone’s multicolor properties, this ring is a seasonless treasure—its purple and brown perfect for fall and winter, the lighter pink properties suited to the warmth of spring.
“At Omi Privé, purple stones consistently resonate with collectors,” Nagpal says. “Part of the appeal is that purple gemstones often possess secondary hues, enabling them to pair beautifully with a wide range of complementary accent colors.”
This zoisite is all the more special for the Omi Privé design that incorporates it, pairing perfectly with side malaya garnets. Nagpal says those garnets were chosen for their shared geological origin with the zoisite—both gems are found in Tanzania—and for a “harmonizing warm-to-cool contrast.”
Set in platinum and with a sprinkle of diamonds, the ring is not only a gemstone collector’s dream but enchanting to all.
