Halloween is on the horizon, and I’ve found myself getting nostalgic with memories of the costumes I wore as a kid. As my own children make their way through some of the characters from my youth, I’m wishing I had kept the ensembles my mom so lovingly made with her own two hands (and trusty sewing machine).
One such costume was Jasmine, the princess from Disney’s Aladdin. I don’t remember much about the costume itself—and, since we lived in New York, it would have undoubtedly been covered by a winter jacket for trick-or-treating anyway—but I do remember the importance of the earrings. At just 6 years old, I wouldn’t have had been able to get my hands on the rich gold, oversize teardrops that made Jasmine’s look so iconic, but that look couldn’t be complete without them. While I likely ended up with some pair of plasticky clip-ons so common in princess dress-up kits, I’ve never stopped obsessing over Jasmine’s actual earrings.
That memory came rushing back when I saw the newest additions to Maison H’s Belle collection—a line of sleek, minimalist jewels that are stylistically bold but seem brushed with a feminine touch. Not that the Dubai-based jeweler’s luxurious pair is a precise match for Jasmine’s, but they do have quite a bit in common: bold scale, minimalist silhouette, smooth gold. It’s like the grown-up version of the earrings I’ve coveted since a fictional cartoon princess first graced the screen in 1992.
“The Belle hoops were designed for everyday wear with an unmistakable edge,” says brand cofounder Fatima Tayob. “Their squared-off silhouette gives a retro twist to the classic hoop, while the sculptural marquise-shape diamonds creates a fine finish to the ear for a look that’s both modern and timeless. These add a soft, organic detail, and the bold shape celebrates confidence, authenticity, and beauty in every woman’s everyday journey.”
