Britt’s Pick: M. Spalten’s Tourmaline Brick Necklace

It is now the start of autumn—unofficially, at least—so naturally, my mind is on one thing: the holiday season. For many, the thought of sweater weather, pumpkin lattes, and leaf raking is all too much to take so soon, never mind even considering thoughts of sleigh bells and snow. But for the retail world, it’s par for the course. While I’m fully committed to pumpkin carving and candy corn gobbling (Halloween is my love), I’m also trying to pay attention to hints the fashion world is giving about Christmas-y attire (along with the gift ideas that promise to be trending).

You couldn’t classify M. Spalten‘s Brick necklace as just any old holiday trend, but it does have certain jubilant vibes (and actually, it’s rocking some sweet fall colors, too). Like a rich stained glass window, a thin bar of faceted, millennium cut Brazilian tourmaline takes center stage, with a border of that diamond cut I always find so festive: baguettes. A wonder to behold any time of year, it’s true, but the designer’s rose gold–set necklace just sings ’tis the season to me, and I want it around my neck from the time I start carving pumpkins right through to carving the turkey, opening presents under the tree, and ringing in the New Year (and long after that).

Brick necklace in 18k rose and white gold with Brazilian tourmaline and 2.21 cts. t.w. baguette diamonds, $14,968
