Britt’s Pick: Elyzian’s Mother & Child Tourmaline Ring

Share

As one of October’s birthstones, tourmaline is in the spotlight this month, with plenty of opportunities for us to see the spectacular gem shine, in all its many colors. California brand Elyzian’s sweetly designed Mother & Child ring gives us not one but two variations of tourmaline, wrapped up in the warmest, most secure golden hug.

Two trillion-cut tourmalines—one a minty green from Brazil, the other a raspberry rubellite from Mozambique—sit in diagonal embrace, a representation of maternal love.

“Every detail of the Mother & Child ring reflects the evolving bond between mother and daughter—distinct yet inseparable,” a statement to JCK from the Elyzian team says. “Twin triangular gemstones represent two souls in harmony, framed by a continuous 14k yellow gold band that flows like an embrace. The open space between them symbolizes freedom within connection, while a spray of diamonds traces the curve like shared memories— luminous and eternal.

“Sculptural asymmetry gives the ring a sense of movement and life, and the domed, high-polished profile ensures both lasting comfort and timeless elegance. A modern heirloom designed to embody love that grows, shifts, and endures.”

The symbolism is rich and meaningful—enough for a sentimental purchase alone—but the ring’s modern style, with its chunky gold profile and domed silhouette casting designed for comfort, make it a good bet for any consumer, mother of a daughter or not.

Still, as shoppers continue to seek more from their jewelry than glorious aesthetics, a design backstory is one of the best tools a retailer can possess. According to Elyzian, the gemstones’ asymmetrical placement symbolizes “individuality within connection, a balance of difference and devotion.”

The one-of-a-kind ring was designed for Elyzian’s line of modern heirlooms and is available on the brand’s website.
