Britt’s Pick: Crescent Moonface Cluster Ring by Anthony Lent

Is everyone else freaking out right now? If you’re a retailer, you’ve got customers who need your help to find the perfect gift for a loved one this holiday—no pressure. If you’re a designer, maybe you’re filling orders to ship before it’s too late. Maybe you’re hustling to send off those glossy holiday cards or one final email to remind your clients of what you have in-store. Maybe you’re one step ahead of everyone else and just ready to party.

Whatever step of this frantic, fantastic holiday journey you happen to be on, either you’re feeling a high jolt of energy or you need one. Either way, there’s a surge of electricity going around, one that’s fed by cheery music and sugary sweets, and the boisterous gatherings of friends, family, and—if you have your happy hours in full swing—shoppers.

In between the holiday hustle and bustle, it’s a bit of quiet we all need. A “Silent Night” to the always-playing “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” To me, this ring by Anthony Lent emits that longed-for solace. “All is calm, all is bright.” It’s a bit of soothing, the closing of a door into a quiet, starlit evening, a momentary break from a raucous party. A candle in the dark of night.

Featuring a signature Anthony Lent face—a crescent moon here—this petite treasure is designed with a cluster of bezel-set gemstones around our celestial centerpiece, the version I like best in pink sapphires and diamonds. The inspiration for the characterization of the moon comes from 19th-century illustrations, particularly the works of Maxfield Parrish, N. C. Wyeth, and Winsor McCay, all American artists known for their vibrant and imaginative works.

If you’re interested, this setting plays host to a number of other gemstones. Choose from opal, tsavorite garnet, ruby, or blue sapphire, or select them all, though wearing them in one big group is certainly less “Silent Night” and perhaps more “Deck the Halls”—not that there’s anything wrong with that.
