Britt’s Pick: Alison Lou’s Prism Ring

Share

Let’s close out the year in Britt’s Pick with some joyful statement ring energy—voluminous, geometric, feminine, fun. Courtesy of Alison Lou’s latest collection, the Prism ring is handcrafted in translucent resin with the loveliest, rosiest glow.

At its center, a 2 ct. lab-grown diamond—a substantial gem for a substantially cool piece, encircled in a 14k yellow gold bezel that brings a certain luxurious warmth. In white gold, the ring might have read as icy, a welcome aesthetic in December to be sure, but the yellow metal adds a cheerfully chic touch.

“I’ve always been captivated by the way resin plays with light and color. It feels playful, yet layered with depth—when combined with diamonds, it creates a dialogue between the classic and the contemporary,” says Alison Chemla, the brand’s creative director and designer. “After the success of our Jelly hoops, I wanted to push resin further, elevating it from a statement material into a fine jewelry setting that celebrates transparency, texture, and movement.”

As for this latest venture into resin, Chemla says it’s been a hit with customers. “We’ve received an incredible response to the new collection,” she says. “Clients are especially drawn to how effortlessly the pieces layer with their gold jewelry. It feels fresh and playful, yet undeniably elevated.”

The setting is whimsical, light, and fun—just right for a playful accessory. But with a 2 ct. lab-grown diamond shining brilliantly at its center, we have to wonder, might this also be an engagement ring contender?

“As clients seek more distinctive settings, this design speaks to the fashion-forward client looking for something truly unique,” Chemla says. Indeed this would be a fashion-forward choice, but as more consumers seek individuality in their choices—and materials like lab-grown diamonds allow for a little more play in budget—it might be just the thing.
