Brilliant Earth Made a Necklace to Benefit the Rainforest Alliance

Eco-conscious diamond jewelry brand Brilliant Earth has debuted a new necklace design that pays homage to the Amazon rainforest while also raising funds and awareness for the imperiled region.

Brilliant Earth debuted the Amazon Rainforest Diamond pendant this week to raise awareness around both climate change and the destruction of the rainforest—two issues that go hand in hand. Ten percent of sales from the $150 necklace ($15 per necklace) will be donated directly to the Rainforest Alliance—the global nonprofit that benefits efforts to protect the Amazon rainforest.

Charitable jewelry isn’t always beautiful, but this style certainly is. The pendant depicts an aerial view of the Amazon River: The curved diamond-studded line represents the river, and beyond that is a diamond-like forest and some empty space that “represents the undetermined future that we have the power to change,” according to brand literature.

“The destruction of the rainforest is one of the more pressing environmental issues we’re facing today,” Beth Gerstein, cofounder and co-CEO of Brilliant Earth, tells JCK. “Rainforest Alliance has been committed to environmental conservation since its inception, and the current fires taking place in the Amazon underscore that its work is more important than ever.”

She adds, “We’re excited to partner with a like-minded organization that’s passionate about making a positive change in our world, and we hope that in working together we can more effectively raise awareness and inspire action around this critical issue.”

The Amazon Rainforest Diamond pendant debuted this week, and is available on BrilliantEarth.com and at Brilliant Earth showrooms.
