Designers Give ‘Bridgerton’ The Fine Jewelry Treatment It Deserves

Share

Bridgerton has created a sensation both through its novels and the Netflix series—and a new Regencycore-inspired collection that blends the eye of the series’ costume designer, Ellen Mirojnick, and the skills of fine jewelry designer Monica Rich Kosann.

Together, their Bridgerton x Monica Rich Kosann fine jewelry collection of a poesy ring, charm, and locket debuts Nov. 15. This collaboration is the first to fall under production company Shondaland’s new Seat at the Table initiative, which partners artists with collaborators to create consumer products such as jewelry that epitomizes their individual art practice as well as the artistry of the show they represent.

Bridgerton x MRK seeks to highlight Mirojnick’s talents—she was the first creative hire on Bridgerton, setting the stage so to speak for the Netflix show’s look and feel—as well as Kosann’s. The two say their work together was both exciting and enlightening as they sought a way to bring the Bridgerton sense of romance and royalty into jewelry.

Bridgerton lockets
Monica Rich Kosann’s lockets are a signature style for her brand, so she loved putting together these lockets for the collection. The Wisteria locket is available in 18k gold ($3,250) or sterling silver ($595).

“Our brand is so much about taking iconic jewelry ideas from history, like lockets, charms, and poesy rings, and making them new again, so Ellen and I immediately bonded over this concept,” Kosann says. “We created pieces that not only embodied the Bridgerton spirit but empower and inspire the woman wearing them while also telling her own story.”

Mirojnick agrees, calling the collaboration and resulting relationship “brilliant.”

“Our creative souls were aligned from our first conversation,” Mirojnick says. “Our passions and our creative process were totally in sync. I loved working with Monica, it was as if we had known each other a million lifetimes and had been working together forever.”

Bridgerton rings
The Queen design for Bridgerton x MRK comes as stacking rings or as a pendant. A single stackable ring in 18k gold with diamonds is certainly fit for the Bridgerton queen, Charlotte ($815).

For those who haven’t read or watched Bridgerton series yet, author Julia Quinn’s Regency-period romance follows the stories of the Bridgerton family. The family consists of a doting mother and her eight children, all of whom she feels must fall in love and marry. To date, the Netflix show produced by Hollywood legend Shonda Rhimes has profiled the lives and love Daphne and Anthony, so there are many more brothers and sisters to go.

Mirojnick says the essence of Bridgerton’s design is an adaptation of the Regency period with a modern twist. The jewelry collection was created with that same point of view. The 18k gold pieces range from $815 to $3,250 and the sterling silver pieces from $160 to $685.

Kosann and Mirojnick designed the collection’s three core styles. The poesy ring, which dates back to the 15th century, includes poetic inscriptions as expressions of love and friendship. They created the Queen poesy ring, which has a highly detailed crown shape and includes “queen” engraved inside. There also is a charm bracelet or necklace available.

Bee charm
The bee features throughout the Bridgerton story in its books and in the Netflix series. This bee charm with diamonds is available in 18k gold or sterling silver ($835–$1,385).

The bee, which is a key character in the Bridgerton story, shows up as a sculptural charm. The locket—one of Kosann’s signature styles in her personal jewelry brand—appears in three styles, made with gold and white diamonds or sterling silver and white sapphires. The locket features romantic vines in a heart shape and the initial “B” for the family name.

Kosann says the partnership will continue into 2023 with future fine jewelry collections that they duo say they hope will have special meaning to Bridgeton fans and its community.

“Our hope is that this collection will become the foundation for many more seasons of must-have collectibles,” Mirojnick says.

The Bridgerton x Monica Rich Kosann collection will be available exclusively online and in Kosann’s Columbus Circle and Hudson Yards stores in New York City.
