Boucheron Brings Nearly 170 Years of Jewelry to Christie’s New York in Its Largest U.S. Archive Show

Boucheron will open In Focus: A Monograph of a Visionary at Christie’s New York Oct. 9–18, marking the French house’s most ambitious U.S. archive showing to date. Staged in Christie’s galleries at 20 Rockefeller Plaza, the exhibition is organized around four thematic chapters—Nature, Architecture, Couture, and Culture—framing nearly 170 years of the maison’s output as a continuous design lineage rather than a strict chronology.

The show pairs archival pieces with new work, including the clasp-free Question Mark necklace, which won acclaim at the 1889 Paris World’s Fair for its then-unprecedented hinged construction, and a 1924 tiara commissioned by Mary Ethel, Viscountess Harcourt, for her daughter Doris’ wedding. Both pieces will appear alongside the U.S. debut of Boucheron’s 2026 Carte Blanche collection, Human Being, designed by creative director Claire Choisne. The five-suite collection—which sets diamonds against rock crystal, rose quartz, morganite, and smoky quartz—required more than 14,000 hours of artisanal work to produce.

Founded by Frédéric Boucheron in 1858 on Place Vendôme, the house built its early reputation on technical firsts, winning international exhibition honors for constructions contemporaries described as unlike anything previously attempted. The In Focus exhibition leans on that history explicitly, positioning the archive as an active design resource that continues to inform current collections rather than a static record of past work.

The run comes as several French heritage jewelry houses expand their New York footprint: Bulgari and Chopard both increased their presence around New York Fashion Week this year, underscoring heightened competition for American high jewelry clients ahead of the holiday season. Christie’s regular hours—Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and Sunday, 1–5 p.m.—apply throughout the run; the exhibition is free and open to the public.
