Botswana Delegation Visits Israel

A delegation from Botswana is visiting Israel to encourage Israeli companies to
invest in Botswana, according to an Israel Diamond Institute press release.

This is the second official visit in the past three weeks, coming on the heels
of a visit by the Foreign Minister last month.

Jacob Nkate, CEO of the Botswana Development and Investment Authority, noted
that five Israeli companies have established diamond-polishing facilities in
Botswana. He said that he would like to see further diversification, including
jewelry manufacturing.

“We are aware that Israel, though similar in size to Botswana, has an
expertise in technology, innovation, manufacturing and more,” Botswana’s
assistant minister of trade and industry, Maxwell Motowane said in a statement.
“We would like Israeli companies to bring their know-how and technology and to
set up partnerships in Botswana.”

Moti Ganz, chairman of the Israel Diamond Institute said in a statement that
the Israeli companies had been in Botswana for five years and that they have
gained more than they expected out of the investment.
