Borsheims to Open Second Store, An Outlet

Now Borsheims is jumping on the outlet bandwagon.

Berkshire Hathaway-owned Borsheims Jewelry is opening its second store in November—in an I-80 outlet mall.

The 5,500-square-foot Borsheims Boutique will open in the Nebraska Crossing Outlets near Gretna, Neb., on Nov. 15.

This is the first expansion for the retailer in a century. It briefly had another store in the 1800s.

The new store, which will feature “value-priced merchandise,” is said to have “the same feel as Borsheims iconic store in Omaha,” with similar furnishing fixtures, and atmosphere as the Borsheims flagship.

Borsheims marketing director Adrienne Fay expressed uncertainty about whether the company would expand further.

“It will take a real unique opportunity for us to jump in,” Fay says. “This all just came together to make it a unique opportunity.”

There will be some overlap in merchandise between the outlet and the main Borsheims store, though there will be “price parity,” she says, adding that other merchandise will be special to the outlet mall.

“We are used to have everything under one roof,” Fay says. “So this will be an interesting learning curve for us.”
