Bonhams’ Jewels and Watches of Distinction: An Impressive Private Collection sale, taking place on June 11 in New York, will showcase extraordinary designs from such renowned jewelry houses as Cartier, Bulgari, Buccellati, Chopard, Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, Lalaounis, Pomellato, and Vhernier.
“This single-owner collection is a celebration of craftsmanship and creativity and offers a playful array of flora and fauna, highlighted by a delightful menagerie of Cartier creations—most notably the iconic Panthère,” said Emily Waterfall, director of Bonhams’ jewelry department, in a statement.
Among the bevy of Cartier designs, an 18k white gold Panthère de Cartier necklace (pictured at top) leads the auction, with an estimate of $40,000 to $60,000. It features a total of around 4 cts. round brilliant-cut diamonds, in the links of the necklace and the body of the panther—which has emerald eyes and an onyx nose and collar.
Other Panthère de Cartier highlights include a pendant necklace, also carrying a $40,000–$60,000 estimate, as well as a pair of earrings and a bracelet.

Additional Cartier offerings in the sale include a set of orchid-shaped diamond earrings and necklace and a pair of sapphire and diamond bird earrings.

The auction also features a 12.2 ct. Bulgari diamond choker necklace and a pair of Tiffany & Co. pearl and diamond earrings in a set with a Chantecler six-strand pearl necklace with diamonds. There are more than 175 lots total in the Bonhams sale.
