Share

Montreal-based jewelry retailer Birks Group announced that Katia Fontana (pictured), its vice president and chief financial officer for the past six years, will retire effective April 1.

She will be succeeded by Aldo Battista, who joined Birks on Feb. 11. Until Fontana’s departure, Battista is serving as vice president, accounting and treasury, and working alongside her.

Battista is a CPA with 25 years of experience in finance and accounting. He spent 16 years at Canadian apparel chain Reitmans, eventually becoming its vice president of finance. He began his career as an external auditor with Deloitte.

He reports to Niccolò Rossi di Montelera, Birks’ executive chair who has been serving as its interim CEO since August.
