
Birks & Mayors Inc. reported Wednesday that net sales decreased 23.5 percent to $102.2 million from $133.6 million compared to the third quarter in 2009.
The company’s comparable store sales were down 19 percent as compared to 2008 and net sales included $6.2 million of lower sales related to translating Canadian sales into U.S. dollars. Gross profit was $43.5 million, or 42.5 percent of net sales, as compared to $60.3 million, or 45.1 percent of net sales in the first six months of fiscal 2009.
