Birks & Mayors announced that its same-store sales during the holiday season increased by 5 percent, led by a 6 percent comp gain in the United States.
Canadian comps rose 4 percent.
The company defines the period holiday as the days between Nov. 4 and Dec. 29, 2012.
The stronger sales results in both Canada and the United States reflect an increase in the average sale, the company said.
“I am very pleased with our sales performance during the holiday period,” said Jean-Christophe Bédos, president and CEO of Birks & Mayors, in a statement, “especially with the success of several of our new initiatives including the complete transformation of some of our stores and the very successful introduction of several new Birks product collections in Canada.”
Birks & Mayors operates 58 stores: 31 stores under the Birks brand in Canada, 24 stores in the southeastern U.S. under the Mayors brand, one store under the Rolex brand name, and two retail locations in Calgary and Vancouver under the Brinkhaus brand.
