Best Buy to Be First U.S. Retailer to Sell Apple Watch

Starting Aug. 7, the Apple Watch will be available for sale at Best Buy, the electronics retail chain.

Currently, the Apple Watch is available in the U.S. only at Apple stores, though abroad it is available in select high-end retailers, including Colette in Paris, Dover Street Market in London and Tokyo, and Selfridges in London.

The initial rollout will include 100 Best Buy stores, with another 200 added in time for holiday shopping. It will also be available through BestBuy.com.

Best Buy will offer the Apple Watch Sport and the Apple Watch in 16 different models. It will not offer the Apple Watch Edition, which is gold encased, costs $10,000, and is available only at select Apple stores.

“The Apple Watch is a big addition to our stores and website, and we know our customers want it,” said Jason Bonfig, senior category officer at Best Buy. “We are excited to bring the Apple Watch to more consumers, especially with the holidays coming up.”
