Ben Bridge Jeweler will open in March in the space vacated by noted El Paso, Texas, retailer Lacy & Co.
Lacy & Co. closed last month, after announcing its intention to shut down in November. Ben Bridge vice president of marketing Mark Bridge says it’s an honor to take over the 66-year-old store’s location.
“The thing that [owner] Ellen [Lacy] was really concerned about was that someone take care of her customers,” he says. “She came to us and said we are the kind of people she would want to take over her store. We will hopefully do right with her client base.”
“It’s really a continuation of the business,” Bridge adds. “We have offered jobs to all of their salespeople and expect they will all join us.”
He notes the Lacys have built a “tremendous business.”
“They have been people that we have known and admired for a long time,” Bridge says, noting that both companies were long active in the American Gem Society.
This will be Ben Bridge’s eighth store in Texas.
