C.R. “Cap” Beesley, the former president of American Gemological Laboratories has made absolutely clear that he is not affiliated with the lab under its new ownership.
“I want to make my position absolutely clear, I am not affiliated or connected with American Gemological Laboratories in any way or in any capacity,” Beesley said in a statement issued April 1
He added, “I want to put to rest any rumors about retirement, the word is not in my vocabulary and I have no intention under any circumstances of riding off into the sunset.”
Christopher P. Smith, vice president and chief gemologist of AGL for the past two years, announced on March 28 that he purchased AGL, including its name and various assets, from Collectors Universe.
Collectors Universe chose to exit the gem and jewelry business on March 2.
