Bäumer Vendôme’s NFT Program Blends Jewelry and Tech

Share

As a challenge to himself and to the fine jewelry industry, Lorenz Bäumer says he is bringing the worlds of luxury and technology together in a NFT collaboration with his Rose de Damas as the focus.

Participants will receive a NFT of the Rose de Damas—also known as the Damascus Rose in Bäumer’s business, Bäumer Vendôme—as well as the opportunity to redeem their NFT for a physical representation of that ring. Bäumer Vendôme is offering a total of only 19 rings in this limited series.

“I have always loved being ahead of the game and challenging the world of fine jewelry,” Bäumer tells JCK. “After having been the first one to use meteorite, then titanium, I have recently used a confidential technology to tattoo diamonds without losing any of their value. The NFT collection is in line with this conquest of new territories.”

Purchasers also will have access to a private club at Maison Bäumer Vendôme in Paris, which includes a virtual-reality experience that goes behind the scenes with Bäumer in his creative process and running his business.

“The idea with this special club is to gather in the same place—people with different lives, experiences, and passions—so they can share new ideas in special places I love,” Bäumer says. “Creating new ties is one of the main values of Maison Bäumer, and I constantly broaden my horizon with these new encounters as much as I love fostering new friendships for our guests coming from different worlds.”

The Bäumer Vendôme NFT is available on crypto.com. Partners in the program are Ledger, which provided hardware wallets and a secure onboarding process; Next Decade, creator of the NFTs; and Societhy, which developed the virtual reality experience at Bäumer Vendôme.

Prices range from $127,797 to $353,168, as the NFTs will come in eight different gemstones: diamond, sapphire, ruby, amethyst, tanzanite, tourmaline, citrine, and black diamond.

Bäumer says he selected the Damascus Rose for its symbolism, and he made 19 NFTs available because 19 is the maison’s address on Place Vendôme, which Bäumer describes as the worldwide home of jewelry.

“The Rose de Damas is an extraordinary rose that has always fascinated me. It is a symbol of beauty and love, which are so important to me,” Bäumer says. “I have always dreamt of turning Place Vendôme into a garden, and technology has now made this possible with the experience we are offering our clients.”
