Baselworld Fair Will Shrink Next Year

The 2018 Baselworld fair will shift to a six-day schedule, down from its traditional eight days.

The 2018 edition of the annual watch and jewelry fair will take place from March 22 to 27. Prices have dropped to reflect the compressed schedule.

The fair suffered a 13 percent decline in number of exhibitors this year—down to 1,300, from 1,500 the prior year. The number of buyers dropped four percent.

The news comes as watch exports have continued to take a hit, with February showing a 10 percent drop compared with the same period in 2016.
