Jewelry designer Baylee Zwart’s fledgling line—she debuted Azlee, a combination of her middle, last, and first names, in 2014—highlights the geometric shapes found in cityscapes and nature, but her new Ombré collection is a nod to fashion. Called the Light collection, some 27 SKUs made in 18k yellow or white gold exist with blue or brown stones, and retail prices start at $245.
“We wanted to convey movement and electricity, so I chose to do an ombré effect with the stones, including dark blue sapphires, aquamarines, and white diamonds,” Zwart tells JCK. “We also played with dark champagne diamonds all the way through to light champagne diamonds…the wiry, delicate, burst-like pieces create a feeling of movement.”
Pieces ship this spring, and a portion of proceeds benefit the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, Calif., due to the designer’s love of the ocean and her California roots. A buy-in currently does not exist.
