Fifty-five-year-old Astro Gallery of Gems has relocated to a new 10,000- square-foot showroom at 417 Fifth Ave.

To mark 55 years in business, the retailer of minerals, gems, meteorites, and other relics and related jewelry and specimens has moved. Opened in 1961 by Julio Tanjeloff, the store’s specialties attract collectors and investors alike. Currently operated by Dennis Tanjeloff, president and CEO and grandson of the founder—who was profiled by JCK in January 2010—the store has counted Salvador Dalí, John Lennon, and Shirley MacLaine among its celebrity fans, and is also skilled in curating multimillion-dollar private collections for investors and museums.
