Asscher Company Officially Becomes “Royal”

The Asscher family announced that it was awarded the “royal”
title by the Queen of the Netherlands, in acknowledgement of its leading role
in the diamond industry.

The title, active for 25 years, was granted by the
deputy mayor of Amsterdam Lodewijk Asscher at the Royal Asscher headquarters in
Amsterdam on Feb. 16.

“It is an honor for the Asscher family to have the privilege
to be the only royal diamond company in the world,” Edward Asscher, president
for the Royal Asscher diamond company, said in a statement.

To commemorate occasion, the company will release a
special-edition Stars of Africa ring with orange diamonds in tribute to the
national color of the Netherlands and the Royal House of Oranje-Nassau.
