The American Society of AppraisersGJ206 Gems and Jewelry Appraisal Techniques and Standards class will be held May 27-29 in Las Vegas, just prior to JCK Las Vegas.
The course will be held in the AGS Laboratory Classroom at 8917 W. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89117. Classes will run from 8:30 a.m. till 5 p.m.
Highlights of the course will include guest instructor Doug Garrod, FGA with hands-on gemological updates.
GJ206 is a review of valuation principles and approaches including a USPAP update and the current report writing standards for ASA and IRS “qualified appraisers.” Included in the course are: hands-on stone identification; qualitative analysis of gemstones and jewelry; a gemological update on diamonds and colored stones; country of origin characteristics; natural vs. synthetic gemstones; diamond and gemstone treatments; alternative gemological techniques; metals and methods of jewelry manufacture; and characteristics of contemporary, and period and collectible jewelry.
