The app lets users buy and sell watches and browse news from their phones
Philadelphia-based luxury watch dealer Govberg Jewelers has debuted a novel new app—Govberg OnTime—that’s billed as a digital toolbox for luxury timepiece buffs wanting to manage and build their collections.
The zippy new app lets users store photos of their watches, get quotes for pre-owned timepieces, and even browse the latest watch-industry news from online blogs and publications (JCK included).
Users can store details and assets (including warranty information) for each of their timepieces, along with notes on service history and calendars for scheduled repairs and/or routine service.

Most interesting, perhaps, is the Sell My Watch interface, which allows users to buy, sell, and trade watches from their collection. Of course, all the commerce is facilitated by Govberg—you sell exclusively to the retailer through the app.
But Govberg’s inventory is so extensive (and its buying power so deep), that a watch collector considering a transaction would likely be perusing the dealer’s wares anyway.
To sell or get a quote on a watch, you simply fill out a few fields on the app—including whether you have the piece’s original packaging and warranty—then upload a photo. A rep from Govberg responds quickly and directly through the app.
The free app is available now for iOS (iPhones), and an Android release is planned for later this year.
